Along with Samsung Series 9 netbook, the company has launched Series 2 netbook as well which sports 12.5-inch display and is said to have hard external casing with metal hinges. Reports suggest that the Series 2 will be lowest model in the whole series. That said, the Samsung Series 2 will still pack Intel Celeron processor which should still be more powerful than the single core (or may be dual core) Atom processors.
Hard specs are not available yet but we do know that it will have HD display (1366 x 768), 320GB hard disk (7200 RPM), (upto) 4GB of DDR3 RAM, 1.3 mega pixel web cams and 6-cell batteries. Lately, Samsung offering have not generated much interest. Samsung N145 launched a couple of months back is powered by the good old Atom N450 processor which delivers so-so performance. Samsung N210 boasts same design as the N145 but features dual core Atom N550 that yields tiny bit better performance.
Looks like Samsung is going to be a bit more serious this time as the Series 2 will have anti-shock hard drive protection, anti spill case design that is made of magnesium alloy and of course, better performance. Release date is said be sometime in the month of April. Unfortunately, there is no word on its pricing.
