Dell M14x Review

Dell Alienware M14x is not an ultraportable laptop or a netbook, but is targeted towards those who find M11x’s small a bit too small for gaming and at the same time, do not want to go for the super heavy M15x. The m14x sports a 14 inch display that packs an impressive 1600 x 900 pixels. It can be equipped with a mighty Core i7-2820QM processor that runs at 2.3GHz clock speed, 8GB of DDR3 RAM (1600MHz) and Nvidia 555M GPU. The laptop automatically switches to integrated graphics (Intel HD 3000) if a task is not very GPU intensive. This also results in improving battery runtimes.

Folks at cnet were able to get their hands on M14x with the aforementioned specifications and they loved it. They praise the gaming capabilities of the notebook as the Nvidia GT555M GPU helped it to run Unreal Tournament III at 240FPS (1400 x 900 pixel resolution). Mafia II gave them a respectful 35FPS at 1600 x 900. The CPU is also very powerful and is same theĀ  one being used in the high end Macbook Pro (15 inch, 2011).

The mini notebook also boasts a SIM card slot to keep you connected while on-the-go. The chassis look fantastic and so do the FX lighting. Read the cnet review here.
